I’ve heard you are looking for aDesign Engineer /ˈjuː.nɪ.kɔːn/🦄
My journey in the last 18 years
2006
Found a book about HTML and CSS and experimented with Dreamweaver.
2007
Got introduced to 3D modeling with Cinema 4D by a schoolmate and started to learn it myself. Together with Photoshop I began to create my first digital art.
2007
Joined an online community called "der-webdesigner.net" (at the time one of the largest communities about 2D, 3D and web development in Germany) and soon after became part of the moderation team. Wrote several tutorials for the community and was an active part of it for many years until the site closed.
2008
Published my first website to showcase my digital art. I put it back online so you can take a look: first-website.stichwort-m.de
2008
Received my first paid job for 3D design.
2010
Started working at a marketing agency while finishing school.
2012
Wrote my first mobile app for iOS in Objective-C. It was an annoying alarm clock that forced you to solve a game to turn it off.
2012
Began to work as a freelancer and built websites and CIs for small businesses.
2011 - 2014
Studied design and finished with a bachelor’s degree.
2015
Got in touch with React and started to build a mobile app with it in combination with Cordova.
2016
At this point, I’ve already built dozens of websites, mostly with Wordpress and ACF. Was never a fan of complex page builders because maintenance is usually too complex for the owner of the site.
2016
Set off my 100 Days CSS Challenge, quickly got followed by thousands of people. Posted the results each day on 100dayscss.com. Later rewrote the page so others could submit their work as well. Since then, over 10.000 users shared their results on this page.
2019
Founded my own company and started to work as a full-time freelancer.
2019
Bought Refactoring UI, hopefully the beginning of a never ending relationship with Adam and Steve.
2019
Using Tailwind since the release of v1.0.0, using it in every project since then. Tried several other frameworks before, but none of them felt as good as Tailwind.
2019
TypeScript replaced JavaScript in all my projects.
2020
Launched Queek, one of many not (yet) successful side projects. It’s a platform to share a digital business card with a NFC tag.
2021
Joined a SAAS startup as a Design Engineer to build a new product from scratch.
2023
Color Palettes, a list of ready-to-use color palettes for Tailwind CSS projects.
2023
My first issue on GitHub for TailwindLabs #2506 🎉
2024 - Future
Looking for a new challenge, and I think I would be a great fit for Tailwind Labs.
Quick facts about me
- CSS Enthusiast
- I like to experiment with CSS and push it to its limits. Sometimes, I create things with CSS, others deem impossible.
- Quick Learner
- I learn new things quickly, which is why I have a broad range of experiences.
- T-Shaped Skillset
- I believe having a T-shaped skillset is beneficial. This means having a wide range of knowledge in many areas, with deep expertise in a few.
- Perfectionist
- I would love to work at a place where the desire to thrive for perfection is encouraged and not limited by the client’s budget.
- Remote Worker
- I’ve been working remotely with small teams for over 5 years now, and I love it. It gives me the freedom to work from anywhere, making me more productive and having a better work-life balance.
- Self-Employed
- I already own a one-person company, so self-employment isn’t an issue for me. The legal form of my company is a GmbH.
- Problem Finder & Solver
- If you have an idea, I can identify potential edge cases you may not have considered and ensure they’re covered.
- Full Stack
- I’ve completed plenty of projects from conception to design, development, and deployment.
Tools Stack
Over the years, I’ve worked with a lot of tools and frameworks. Here are some of the tools I’ve used in the past and that I’m still using today.
Now it’s your turn
I would love to join Tailwind Labs and help make the web a more beautiful place. I am confident that my skills and experiences would be a great fit for the team.
If I get invited to a call, we could also discuss three-dimensional transforms in CSS.
